Default My GW2 'opinion'

Ok here are my opinions on Guild Wars 2, what not to do and what to do.

1. Instanced maps. Keep that please, some people might not like it...A game can't be perfect. But sinse all GW veterans are used to it and Guild Wars is known for it, keep it! jeez!
But, if you insist on getting rid of that...Have the same as it is, but make the zones bigger. Like ex, north shiverpeaks...have that one big zone, and have a few more cities to stop at for a checkpoint if your exploring. Oh ya! map travel too, thats really handy

2. I really like GW 1's patching system...1-4 mb on average. (usually less) Love it! being that iam on dialup.

3. Mounts! Good for getting around fast, and escaping from a bad situation. But not in cities for the only good they'd to there are just to show off...

4. Auction house...reduces spamming...

5. Sellable armor?

6. More enchantments on armor and weapons. ex only 3 magic attributes on GW 1 items.(stupid)

7. Some how....less noobs spamming chat, asking for help on their noob guild...AHH!

8. 10-12 skills on your primary skill bar. And then have a list of skills with you, in which you can use at any time. (itd just be slower to get to em, for like rezzing the monk if he dies )

9. More item slots, (like someone before said) for rings and ammys

10. More content

11. elite spells, cool, keep that!

12. no transfer of anything! Its a fresh start fools! It would be unbalanced too. Its a lot more fun to start from the bottom, again! Theres no challenge if you just keep the same old stuff and not have to work...my god!

13. Not to high...but a higher lvl cap, 40-50 perhaps.

Ok thats about all i can think of for now....Please post if you disagree with any.

Default Things I would like to see in GW2

I had wondered if it was possible to do these things in GW2:

1.) Weather changes in PvE and World PvP worlds, to make the game more challenging as well as more immersive because you're against your environment. For example, it's pretty funny when you see a female ranger wearing a really skimpy outfit in places like shiverpeaks and you think to yourself isn't she going to catch frostbite in that thing, or even when you're in places like Kryta or Elona and you see some guy come up with a fur lined armor on.

2.) The group that wins the World PvP controls the weather for other areas. As in making some areas more lush and plentiful. Or making other groups zones more arid and desertry, or cold and foreboding. (this is an idea used in "ArchLord" I believe but from what I heard it could of been done better)

3.) Inns, bars, and camping in PvE towns and World PvP. Like during gameplay in World PvP and PvE the health bar and energy bar should slowly get exhasted. I'd say possibly to the point that you're halfway exhausted if you've been playing consecutively for over 6 hours. The Inns, bars and camping helps you to recuperate or you can sign out for at least 30 mins and start again refreshed at your nearest city or outpost. I think this will help make the game more immersive and also will help with making more strategic movements in World PvP, as in attacking a rival team because they need to camp or attack them while they're camping and are at a disadvantage. Also it may help in the sense of people not playing as long if you actually give them a reason to stop instead of telling them "You've been playing for 2 hours. Please take a break."

4.) Towns and cities can get sieged in World PvP, giving the game an epic Lord of the Rings type of battle feel.

5.) The ability to ambush rival groups in World PvP.

6.) The ability to become a merchant in PvE as in making your own armor and weapons or selling them. The more you do this the better you become or you can go on journeys to different places and learn from armor and weapon makers there how to make different types of armors/weapons like one's with different skins, attributes and such. Also the ability to give names to your weapons.

7.) Killing things in PvE environment for food and gathering roots. I think this is an idea seen in World of WarCraft.

8.) To be able to have PvP in PvE environment but more so against the different races as in if you're a human and you go in to the Charr environment players that are Charr can be hostile towards you. The catch to this is that if you kill a player from another race the consequences are dire. For example, you're a Charr and you kill a human player, when you travel to human areas there will be a bounty on your head and also people looking for your arrest depending on the viciousness of your action. (This idea is used somewhere else I can't remember the name of the game but it's used in the sense of just killing a fellow player in general you will be hunted down and thrown into a dungeon from which you have to escape.)

9.) To have Caravans and Supply lines going from town to town in World PvP. This will also help in the strategy of World PvP, by being able to ambush and stop the flow of Supply lines to well fortified cities and such.

10.) Ability to claim land and create homes on outskirts of towns. Therefore you can grow your own roots if you're a merchant. Or heard your own lifestock and such. Not sure if this is a good idea though especially if too many people do this.

Default Ideas

Ok excuse me please for my grammer and if the stuff I type is already on here on the forums.

Some of us may have heard of Runescape. It is a very weak game but, I do like some of the 'skills' such as Mining, cooking , blacksmith, fishing, woodcutting, fire makeing, crafting( jewlery, pottery ect..) I beilive if GW2 had these things, it would be awsome. (Killing stuff for the last 2 years was fun but... yea) But in RS for fishing, all you do was click on the water where the fishies were, then wait till you caught one. BORING!!! Ok so add the fishing skill BUT make it a mini-game!! Now, with that fish you just caught you should be able to fillet it for food. Or show it off as a trophy in your house!!(I will get to houses later) With that food first you make a fire, with your firemakeing and woodcutting skills, then cook it with your cooking skill. Eat that yummy fish, and restore health.
Or another way to get food would be to go out into an exploreable area and hunt rabbit, or deer, stag's, moose, elk, birds, buffalo, ect. And with the antlers or Horns of your game you could use it as a trohpy and put it into your house. And you should be able to farm the area around your house. With the wheat you farm you could take it to a windmill to make flour or sell it. Or farm hops ,barley and make Ale mmmmm. On your farm you could have livestock. You could, collect eggs from chickens or milk a cow. With the milk you drink it or churn it to make Butter. With the veggies you harvest you combo it with other foods (this idea from Sims games) to make another type of food. You take bread, ham and butter to make a Ham Sandwhich Which would heal more health than if you just ate the tub of butter. Oh you have to eat food to stay alive. And in towns/cities, add some bars, where you can talk about builds, battles, what ever over a nice cold, beer. And add some cloths shops so you can wear jeans or a t-shirt, or a jacket, mainly just to wear around the city, man that warrior armor is hot and heavy you know!!

Houses.

It Would be cool to have your own house. But to get to your house you could click on a button in your inventory that says HOUSE. The houses could be on an island called 'Home Sweet Home' or somthing like that so that way no land in exploreable areas is wasted. . And you can invite a friend to come. You could buy your house from a realstate agent.
or start out with a little rubby shack. OR make your own. I think makeing your own would be cool. Okay to make your own house you would chop down trees to make lumber, you could get nails from a merchant or make your own. And you could make rugs from bear hides, make chairs from wood ect.. Or just buy that sorta stuff from the realstate agent. Land around you house you can plant a garden and crops. And make fences for pastures for cows. In your house you could have a dislplay cabnet to show off you sweet weapons, shields, Armor, Trophys. You could also show off your titles in the form of trophys. You could have mini-games like Chess, Darts, pool tables, Texas Hold em'(love that game ) and have instruments too! REAL ONES not a 'Air Flute' and mabey you could have some modern ones too like an Electirc Guitar or Keyboard and hear sounds from them. But if a guy playin guitar then a guy starts playin drums, the game automaticaly syncs so it sounds in tune and that actions look like it would sound good. Okay movin' on.

Pets/ Mounts
Forgot, inside your house you could let your mini-pets roam around, and have cats and dogs mini-pets but to scale with you charater. And let your Ranger Pet walk around too. Also Mounts!! It would be cool if you could galop around on a horse, or a mithyical creature, like a Griffion, Dragon ect. For your pets you have to feed them so they dont keel over. And Armor!! Be pretty cool to see your pet wearing it. And for your mounts too.

Charaters
Your Warrior is Buff, Your male monk is buff, your necro is skinny, all girls are skinny and.. yea so why not change it up? There can be a built necro, a small Warrior, a tall female. A Fat Ranger. Have some more options than just height. Also most of the hair styles i dont like, lets get some new ones, normal ones. And more colors, why not lime green, pink Orange, purple hair. Some people talked about gender changers in game to that I say, Eww, no way man. And more races. Why cant you be a dwarf, or an elf, orc. And dont put a elf is better elementalist so to be good at that elf you HAVE to be ele, and human is good at ranger, just mkae it so it balanced so every race can be decent at every class. And mabey you could have a family, say its like a mini guild. I know lots of peeps who play with there sons, wives ect.

Well that pretty much covers it, keep the no fees that awsome i think i wanted to say some more but i cant think of it. Please post back so i can see if im a fool, or if this is something Anet will use, cause i sure hope so!!!!

I have an idea for Green Weapons. Create an area like UW or FoW where you can go farm for Green Weapons. The area must obviously not be easy to play in, maybe little harder than UW or FoW. You must buy a specific Capture Signet like you would for a Elite skill, but it's just for Green Weapons. Then there must be a boss in that area for every type of character, like a monk boss, necro boss, etc. Then say for instance you are looking for a Dervish Green Weapon you can go farm that specific boss, but the Green Weapon capture must be random for dervish weapons and they can make a % ratio like the dye drops. For example you chance to obtain the Deathbringer is 2% or something like that. I think that will help with all that mind less farming, because you are guaranteed a Green Weapon, you just don't know which one, but you can always trade for the one you really want. If you can sell a few Green Weapons that you don't really want you will be able to pay for the one you really do want as the prices can get a bit high.

I also have an idea for Hero Armour. I would like to be able to customize my hero's armour, like dye it various colours, buy it from a Armour Trader and maybe a bigger variety in styles. For example I can get 15k Canthian Armour for my hero, or whatever the armour will be called in GW2 (you must still finish the game to obtain specific armour)....I just don't want to pay the big price for it tough, maybe the dev team can think of something here to make it more obtainable for the less wealthy players. ((LOL...like me!!))

And then of course....there must be a Trade House. It will make it allot easier for everyone I think.

All that I ask is please don't make GW2 just like WoW, if I wanted to play WoW, I would!!!

Default Trade/Market/Item System

I just wanted to echo the idea for vastly improving the trade system for GW2. Having an "auction house" or being able to post your items for sale in game - where gamers can have an easy time browsing for what they're looking for would be HUGE! The ability to have people purchase when you're offline too (such as in L2). So many other beneficial "tweeks" could be added to this idea that your multi-game vets can think of - the overall premise though is a home run - doesn't take much improvement to beat the current process of out-spamming others in LA/Kaineng/Kama, lol.

I personally HATE clicking on an enemy to attack him. When GW2 comes out I would LOVE IT if it had FPS, Over the shoulder, or 3rd person shooter settings. Okay so not everybody would like it, so can Anet make it so you have a choice of, FPS, Over the shoulder, 3rd person shooter, and tradition styles of attack? And also could we move while shooting a bow, and some spells/skills? mabey not at a run but at a slow jog or walk? And be able to jump and climb up ladders and ropes, and swim. That would be cool.

Also in towns/cities, could we have a place where we can buy mods or upgrades? We could buy them with Faction or gold, or a mixture of both. I have some weapon ideas, Like 2 handed swords, like really big ones, some small swords that you can duel weild with? crossbows, maces , flails, pikes, lances, stuff like that?

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I hope someone from the Development Team reads this; I hope these issues are already being addressed, but just in case . . .

One concern I have regards to passing on of items to GW2 characters. With the announcement of the Hall of Monuments, its been said that we can pass on a "legacy" to our children (GW2 characters).

1. What about weapons that were customized? I have top "end-of-game" green items from Nightfall that were customized for my characters before any such announcement of "passing on" was made. Will placing a weapon in the HoM remove customization so our GW2 characters can use it? Perhaps customization would be changed from character-specific to account-specific?

2. Will GW2 characters all "spawn" from a single GW character or will it only be a one-to-one ratio?

3. Will items, titles, and equipment be reflected per account or per character? For example, I have many titles on a Ranger character, and few on an elementalist. Can my new GW2 elementalist "inherit" titles from my GW Ranger and still use my GW Elementalist equipment/items?

I hope an announcement will be made soon. I'm not sure if I should work on titles with a single character (thus, have many titles to pass on to ALL my GW2 characters being "account-specific") or if its going to be a one-to-one character bonus in which case only one character will inherit a single character's titles (meaning I have to do titles over and over again with all my other GW characters).

I'm really looking forward to GW2.

Iv'e got a funny little idea in my head, that has proven itself true over the 19 months that i've played. Guild Wars, whatever it chooses to do, i can assure myself that it wont disappoint. Anyone else feel that way?

Default Elite versions of all skills + training

I'm not sure if this really fits in with the GW style, but I'm just gonna throw it out there. I'm only using GW1 skill names to make life easier on myself, this isn't intended to be shoe-horned into GW1.

1) There are no solely elite skills.
2) All normal skills have an 'elite' version.
3) The elite versions of these skills can be 'trained up'.

This assumes GW2 focuses more on quality rather than quantity, since doubling the current skill number would be a nightmare.

PvE

So lets say John just reached an event in GW2 we'll call 'ascension'. He can now choose any skill he has learned and switch it to the elite version. Obviously he can only have one like this at a time in his skill bar. He looks at his skill bar and chooses 'Ethereal Light', and it becomes 'Celestial Light [E]'. It is obviously a more powerful version and can be switched back at any time. If he chooses another skill to be his elite skill, this one goes back to the normal version. Currently, Celestial Light is 50-75% effective, but the more he uses it, the closer it gets to 100%. The system remembers this level, it isn't forgotten when the elite is switched off. He uses the skill for a bit and notices a new title track appear in the H window, 'Apprentice Healer'. The more healing prayer skills he levels up, the higher the title track goes, up to 'Grandmaster Healer/Smiter/Marksman/Swordsman/Channeler/Dominator/etc'. Since only one elite skill is allowed in the skill bar at any one time, only one can be leveled at a time. This encourages John to try out new builds.

PvP

All elite skills are at 100% effectiveness by default. The stats are exactly the same as the PvE versions, as the skills aren't intended to be overpowered.

Criticisms

This will cause more PvE elitism.

I don't think so, since the elites are already 50-75% effective, which should be enough for normal play. The extra 25% should be considered a permanent buff, rather than a temporary nerf. I think actually having an elite would be more important than it's level. As long as the system is switched on early in the game and players are given time to use it, I don't think there would be a problem. Everyone is going to be at different levels in GW2 anyway.

More grind? What's wrong with you?

I don't consider this grind. I think when a person is forced to do something they don't like doing in order to reach a compulsory goal, that's grind. This, however, is passive. It happens as the player does anything, as long as he is using skills. Players would be free to grind them up if they wanted, but as long as they are not forced to, I'm OK with it. Anyway, if it's tied to a title, people lap it up.

So I can't capture skills any more? I enjoyed that.

I would hope a better system would be put in place for the acquisition of skills in GW2, since they are at the core of the game.

So elite skills are no longer unique, but just better versions of crappy skills?

The elite skills don't have to just be a little more powerful, they could have less conditionals, or even work in a different way. Take Empathy and Spiteful Spirit for example. I know they're not of the same professions, but they would make great counterparts and are fairly different.

DO NOT INTRODUCE TRADE SKILLS.
You do this, you kill Guild Wars. It looks like ArenaNet is going the way of other MMOs in some ways, which is killing me. I had a different opinion before, but now I'm worried.

If there were to be tradeskills, please, make them useful, but don't make them all-powerful. If you had to, limit one tradeskill to each character, as say an attribute like Fire Magic or Beast Mastery or Illusion Magic. Just don't make it so you will need a Medic tradeskill person or else your party is doomed. Make all tradeskills (if there are any) useful in their own way, and constantly buff and nerf them to make sure no one rules over the other. Don't give tradeskills a lot of skills (skills like the ones in GW now), maybe limiting to a few and then multiple levels of them.

It would be better not to have to deal with them at, but if there's a good idea on them I would love to hear it.

Default Skill Bar Expansion & Secondary Elite

This idea may require gameplay testing, but I thought it would be neat if the skill bar could be expanded to nine skills AND that after a certain level, players could earn the privilege of a second elite skill (but limited to only one elite from a character's primary profession and one elite skill from the character's secondary profession).

Why? Well, from experience, there have been many builds that I would have liked to have tried that needed just one more skill bar place. That's the reason for a nine skill set.

Why a second elite? There are many elite combinations I would like to try, but current GW mechancics don't allow for it. Likewise, many monsters would be very challenging when set up that way. So, I was thinking it would add to the customization of many builds and variety of gaming styles. Of course, testing would be required to make sure combinations weren't unbalancing the game.

It would be nice to have a bit more use for the experience you gain after you reached the level cap. Now some players got millions of XP and they only get skill points. It would be nice to see that these dedicated players get a slight but measureable advantage over the others.

More daggers that are similar to the split chakrams.
Better area effect skills for assassins.

Well first of all I feel I could write a book about some cool ideas I have for the new game but Im not making the game so I will keep most of them quiet. Either way I know I will love the game.

I skimmed this entire thread and didnt see one of the ideas that I am quite proud of however so I am going to detail it.

I have only been playing GW for about 7 months. and within a week of buying Prophicies I had gone out and bought Factions and NF as well. I got addicted and it only took me about 2 weeks to learn about the weapons and mods and max damage scales. So basically within 2 weeks I realized this one thing...."WHAT IS THE POINT OF A NON-MAX DAMAGE WEAPON???" I had my first max weapon quite quickly and ive never looked back. I now put max damage weapons in the hands of all my characters/heros even if they dont meet the requirements.

My idea is that you make ALL weapons max damage to start with, and here is the twist.....
The character holding the weapon MUST meet the requirements and the weapon MUST BE SHARP!! (in the case of melee weapons, arrows and spears)

Thats right you heard it....it must be SHARP to do max damge. Put a weaponsmith in the game the deals in making weapons sharp!!! Have a sharpness meter attached to your weapon and as the weapons dulls over time you have to go see a weaponsmith that sharpens it for you for a fee.

Better weapons would hold their edge longer, and the best of weapons would never have to be sharpened cause they would have something like a titanium or diamond edge on them....i dont know get creative with it.
You could be detailed or as vague as you wanted when it comes to the cost involved in sharpening your weapons or how long the weapon will stay sharp.

- The weapon should not dull unless it is being used.
- The weapon could dull faster if used by someone that does not meet the reqs
- You could still have white, blue, purple, gold and green...but just make it so that the golds and greens are the weapons that would have the chance of never dulling.
- Allow us to salvage an edge off of a weapon and put it on another one.
- Bows would have arrows attached to them which you could ugrade the material that the arrows/tips where made of. Arrows could be taken from one bow and put on another (once again a salvageable type of thing).
- Caster weapons should always be max damage and you wouldn't have to maintain them. The only thing that could keep them from doing max damage would be a character not meeting its reqs...i mean come on caster weapons dont do much damage anyway.

Well thats it, what do you think?

--------------------------
Ok so here are some of the previously mentioned ideas that I totally agree on as well.

- I love the idea for the Auction hall - just please make it organized. Ill let the people in the other thread iron out the details cause im not reading 500 posts about it
- The hair stylist is a good call as well since it could be alot of fun, but for gods sake dont make it expensive, 10g is fine.
- Really detailed armor dying capabilities. Give me the option to paint flames on my warriors helm if I want. So basically give us the option of solid coloring or even some cool artwork.
- Definatley need a messaging system that will allow me to leave a message for someone that isnt online. A post office system that will allow me to trade with someone while they arent online as well would be fantasic. Like a person wants my sword but im busy and cant trade with them at that moment and they need to log off. Ill just slap it in their mailbox with a pending payment on it and he wont be able to get the item until he deposits the agreed amount into my mailbox. Wouldnt it be cool if I could log in and get a message from the server that says "you have 2 new messages and 1 package in your mail box" I could type /messages to read my messages and /packages to view my packages.

Thats about it for now.

Also I love the idea of 2 handed swords like a giant neandrathal sword or the idea of being able to weild a sword/axe in each hand at the sacrafice of a shield which boosts armor.

having a sword/axe in each hand could make adrelaline go up faster and could lend to a whole new series of dual attacks by warriors.
